I’m moving my music video to youtube.com. First because everybody shares their music videos there and so will draw a bigger audiance. Second the video file are consuming a large portion of my monthly bandwidth limit and I don’t want to upgrade yet.
“Another Day In Paradise” is the first to go
Glen Keane (standing), supervising animator on the character of Aladdin reviews his animation with Ron Clements, who directed Sequence 13, Aladdin Becomes Prince. I claimed that the caption was wrong and the scene was much earlier in the movie. However now that I take a better look at the photo I realized I was the one who’s wrong. Checkout the character designs on the background and The Little Mermaid poster on the left.

I welcomed “Jasmine on Parade” in my collection today. Did you know Mattel makes puzzles? I didn’t. The puzzle spans 100 pieces and was a breeze to put together. The artwork shows Jasmine riding a camel in a parade. Besides the camel a duck, elephant, giraffe and horse participate in the parade. Jasmine wears a really nice dark pink outfit with purple vail.
The box notes a creation date from 1997.
Hope to have this and the other 3 (nrs: 5, 17 and 18) framed in June.
I’m watching Ghost Whisperer, a drama/fantasy series about a young woman Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt) who can talk with earthbound spirits of dead people and help them cross over.
Together with series like Lost, Medium and Cold Case one of the better shows in a TV world full of programs that are full of trash, to say it nicely.
In tonight’s episode Demon Child a familiar face guest starred; Lori Loughlin, best known for playing Becky in Full House.
She still is pretty and looks better than ever before, even better then she looked in Full House roughly 16 years ago. Sadly Lori didn’t land any big roles since Full House ended. Mostly guest roles in semi-popular series as Spin City other than that Lori was in allot of TV movies, mostly dramas. So I wondered, what’s the rest of the Full House cast up to these days?
A little research on IMDB learned the following. Bob Saget (Danny) is with former co-stars Dave Coulier (Joey) and John Stamos (Jessie) in Sagets directed “Farce of the Penguins” also starring Jason Alexander and Gilbert Gottfried. The Tanner girls with the exception of the Olsen twin did little acting in recent years.
Jodie Sweetin tragically had a drug problem but is recovering. Last role: Maryanne in “Yes, dear.” My favorite Tanner girl, Candace Cameron Bure became a religious freak and is married happily with kids to NHL player Valeri Bure. She does some acting now and then but I imagine that raising three young children she had other duties to attend to. Last role: The Krew as Chief Karls. We never heard from Andrea Barber (Kimmy) since Full House, probably choose a different career.
That leaves Scott, besides reprising Aladdin for video games and such he wrote a few episodes for the sitcom “What I Like About You” starring my favorite actress from “Beverly Hills, 90210″, Jennie Garth
Tonight was the annual musical spectacle The Musical Awards Gala on TV. Just like last year lots of Disney connections in the actors, more or less the same people that attend every year. This year however the show itself has strong Disney and even little Aladdin connections.
Special guest star Vanessa Williams preformed “Colors Of The Wind.” Not having seen much of Vanessa since 1995 I noticed her aging but her voice was slightly different. Still she sang great. Big Tarzan news, the second special guest was Phil Collins. He announced that Tarzan (the broadway musical that recently opened) will follow up Beauty and the Beast April 2007. He didn’t look good, lost weight and grows a beard. Tonight he preformed “Everything I Am” one of the new songs written for the musical and the hit “You’ll Be In My Heart”
Beauty and the Beast was nominated a couple of times for leading male & female in a big musical, two female supporting roles in a big musical and the best big musical. It won the award for best big musical. Sadly it lost the other two, leading male and female in a big musical to Sweet Charity and Cabaret. As I wrote before Beauty will settle in Fortis Circus Theater in September and will sit there till early 2007, no official date has been announced but my guess is February at the last. Since Tarzan seems to be technical a big renovation is needed before opening in April.
Personally I’m excited about Tarzan, the animated movie was the last good Disney in recent years is one of my favorites. But a critical note is in order Beauty and TLK took almost a decade to cross the ocean and now Tarzan opens here less then a year after it’s Broadway premiere. Is Joop van de Ende not talking a huge risk or does he and his team stare blind at the success of TLK and Beauty? Time will tell.
Correction: Everywhere I am = Everything I Am
Youtube is a great source for all kinds of Aladdin related videos. Allot of animated music videos, clips from forgein songs or bad karaoke by teens. Last night I came across this with the search phrase “Aladdin Jasmine”
What if the legendary Aladdin was a modern day rapper? Check out Prince Ali rapping about his lamp and competing against Jafar in a popularity contest for Jasmine!
Ultimate Disney reports that the website for the next Disney Princess DVD has been updated. As you might recall I mentioned this title which was then called Disney Princess Fairy Tales: A kingdom of Kindness before. It will contain a new story for Aurora and Belle. I also wrote e about the hope that if successful Disney would include a story about Jasmine in a future release.

Now the site is updated with a new trailer. The animation looks great for a modern D2D release. Judging by the web trailer the animation is a enormous improved from Belle’s previous direct-to-video sequels “Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas” and “Belle’s Magical World.” The latter had bad animation, it was even lower then what Disney produced for TV at that time.

From France comes puzzle number 18 in my collection. The artwork shows Aladdin, Jasmine and Abu in Aladdin’s hovel with Agrabah and the palace on the background. The artwork is bad, ugly even. Aladdin and Jasmine, especially, are off model. The overall quality of the puzzle is not what I’m used from Jumbo. I’ve seen much better such as recent the palace puzzle (see picture). On top the ugly puzzle, what I couldn’t tell from the picture the thing took almost a month to get here. Ironically, the puzzle is made by a company in Amsterdam.

Made in the mid 90′s by the Paris department of Disney feature animation Runaway Brain is the only Mickey short made in the 1990′s. IMDB has incomplete credits but the movie has two connections to Aladdin in the effects and inbetween departments. To my surprise Andreas Deja was supervising animator for Runaway Brain but isn’t credited for it at IMDB. Like I said, incomplete.
ve heard about the short before, it got some buzz being the first Mickey short since years. But never got a chance to see Runaway Brain. I for one haven’t seen it before A Goofy Movie as Wikepedia claims it was shown. Which seems logical as A Goofy Movie was a Paris production as well made in an area Disney ruled feature traditional animation.
Thanks to YouTube I got a chance to watch it. You should too, you’ll love it.
You might have heard of Aladdin JR, Disney made for Highschools across the US. It seems the show found foothold on European soil. Portugal translated Aladdin JR.. The guy and girl defiantly have the Aladdin and Jasmine look and have good singing voices as well. The arrangement sounds great.
