For a moment I thought it was this thread was dumped up but then I noticed TLM instead of BatB. Hope gets a duet with Eric. This so cool can’t wait for the cast album.
Casting of the principal roles in Disney Theatrical Productions’ upcoming stage adaptation of The Little Mermaid has been completed, and the list includes a number of well-known Broadway names. In addition to the previously announced Sierra Boggess as Ariel, the cast will include Sherie René Scott as Ursula, Sean Palmer as Prince Eric, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Eddie Korbich as Scuttle, Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby, Derrick Baskin as Jetsam, Tyler Maynard as Flotsam and Cody Hanford and J.J. Singleton as Flounder.
Through UD I was directed to the official Disney Princess Enchanted Tales DVD website at Disney.com. It seems they woke up from their wintersleep and swaped Belle for Jasmine. She has a nice looking variation of one of her movie outfits complte with taira. But Jasmine looks good in anything so that’s no surprise.
In my endless quest for covers of A Whole New World I ordered a bunch of CD’s each containing a different take on Alan Menken’s score. Many of these CD’s are older and so have a delivery time of several weeks. I intend to review each CD as it comes in.
- Pure Movies 2 by John Tesh

It’s no secret that many Disney melodies sound very operetta/classical like Aladdin has at least two “The Kissâ€(2) and “Jasmine Runs Away†I thoroughly discussed in the past. It was only a matter of time before someone ‘classified’ some well known songs.
Released by classical music label Delos comes Bibbidi Bobbidi Bach conducted by Donald Fraser. Bibbidi Bobbidi Bach is the sequel to Heigh Ho Mozart released in 1996. Both CD’s are covers of Disney melodies in the style of classic composers like Beethoven, Chopin, Bach and others I’m not familiar with. Because of that it was sometimes difficult to recognize the original melody in the classical piece. For example Kiss the Girl in the style of Sibelius stretched the song from 2.42 to 5 minutes to me it sounded nothing like Alan’s calypso upbeat song from 1989. And because it’s a fast passed song it doesn’t lend to be ‘classified’ at least not in this style. On the other hand their take on a Vaughan Williams version of Just Around the Riverbend is great and reconcilable. By far the most beautiful piece Lady and the Tramp’s Bella Notte in the style of Satie.
I can go on discussing every instrumental piece but I won’t simply because it’s music and music is to listen to not to write about. I will do “A Whole New World†which the main reason I spend € 25 for this CD. That’s pretty expensive for a ten year old album. Anyway Aladdin’s theme song is composed in the style of Chopin; most of you probably heard some of his melodies. I know my music teacher made us listen to classic records at High school including Chopin I believe. The booklet mentions that the albums arrangement by Donald Frasier that their take was inspired by four of Chopin’s.
The opening follows Alan’s Melody closely with strings, flute and French Horns then the piano takes over for most of the piece. A little over halfway drama comes in the form of strings playing the melody before returning to piano for the finale. With it’s exactly 6 minutes long A Whole World Chopin style in the longest track on the album.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Bach is available at Amazon.com and Bol.com as well as other online retailers and probably can be ordered by your local music store too.

Streetrat is proud to present the reopening of The Lamp now know as Worthless Piece of Junk.
I love the color scheme and layout, the layout breaths the atmosphere in the Cave at that moment. Redesigning this thing was fun because fanlistings don’t need to be 100% cross browser compatible or have great navigation like the blog does. I could try different things. The end result looks great if I say so myself. -:)
Four down one to go after that I might open up one for the relationship between Abu and Iago or do something for Aladdin’s villains.
Through the faithful Jerry Orbach fans at Bittersweet and Strange comes Broadwayworld’s Jerry Orbach’s Widow Aims for Street Named After Husband.
Orbach moved on to better places three years ago this December 28th. Jerry Orbach, as you Disney fan, should know was the voice of Lumiere in Beauty, a big musical and stage preformer and the voice of Aladdin and the King of Thieves villain Sa’luk.
I was like aww, yes he atleast deserves that if not renaming a theater in his honor. Though I never personally saw him play Beauty and it’s characters rank high on my all-time favorte movie list.
