Disney-ish Christmas Traditions

Last weekend an Aladdin Christmas Ornament I ordered through EBay arrived from the US. It’s the first in a collection I like to growing in the years to come, call it a new Christmas tradition if you will.

The ornament in question is a large white ball with the logo on one side while classic artwork of Aladdin and Jasmine in Carpet on the other. Made by Smid for the 1993 holiday season the inside flap reads the nicest description of the film I’ve read:

Aladdin Christmas 1993 Ornament

Board the next magic carpet and get ready for a timeless rags-to-riches love story-complete with a magic lamp, a Genie, a young princess and a scheming court advisor who plots to capture her father’s throne. Disney’s full-length animated film, Aladdin offers enough romance, comedy and adventure to fill a thousand and one Arabian Nights.

Lorrele at WordPress inspired me to extend this post beyond the usual look-what-I-cool-Aladdin-merchandise-I-found-on-EBay, even though I sniffed some amazing items out this year. She asked her readers to blog something about the holiday traditions they have as part of a blogging challenge. Usually I can’t connect her requests to Streetrat but the ornament as new tradition this challenge was easier to accomplish.
Anyway back to Christmas tradition. My family didn’t do on Christmas traditions when I was as boy let alone anything Disney related. I guess watching X-Mas TV specials and typical holiday films like the Santa Clause or the Beauty sequel Enchanted Christmas modern traditions.

A personal Disney Holiday tradition is going to a Disney On Ice show. And while it’s even more modern then the movies mentioned above, 2007’s Disney On Ice show will be the seventh or eighth in a row. The tradition started when Beauty and the Beast on Ice came to Amsterdam in the early 00’s the next two years had some great shows like 100 years of Magic and Jungle Adventure and every year they got better up to last year when parts of Aladdin where skated in Princess Classics which was the best show ever that only can be topped by a full length Aladdin on Ice show.

One can always dream…
