akikowolf published this picture a while ago, about 2 and a half months ago to be exactly. Considering it was the last fanart of Iago since it gives you an idea how little Iago is featured in fanart.

Martin “Dr. Toon” Goodman tributes Ollie Johnston for his 95th birthday as the last surviving of Walt Disney’s “nine old man” in a 3-page beautiful poem remising his life and work. On page 3 Aladdin is mentioned.

Good news for the fans of Disney’s top 2D animators and Aladdin’s key animators. As you might have heard Eric Goldberg (supervisor animator Genie) contributed to the Goofy short How to Hook Up Your Home Theater now playing in front National Treasure: Book of Secrets . In an interview with AWM he told he’s working on a short cartoon of his own.

He said:

Goldberg, who is currently animating a character for The Princess and the Frog 2D feature, is also storyboarding his own short involving Mickey, Donald & Goofy. “It’s in the vein of Boat Builders.

In the same article Jasmine’s character designer and animator Mark Henn spoke about the parts he animated. Animation World Magazine has a clip of How to Hook up Your Home Theater where we see Goofy shopping for a TV The football footage is Mark’s animation. It’s easy to mistake it for the 1944 How To Play Football. Next up was Andreas “Jafar” Deja to explain a bit on how he sees Goofy.

Dale Baer continues to explain that Eric, Mark and Andreas animate the old fashioned way, on paper. And that half the short was animated using Cintiq, a sort tablet computer running professional design/animation software Maya. A sort of high-end Photoshop I guess.

The two directors Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers reveal that next up is The Ballad of Nessie with Henn and Andreas in the team.

Well done, guys! I can relate to Goofy. When I was hooking up our LCD HD TV I couldn’t figure out why the device didn’t receive a signal. Turned out that I didn’t see the connector where the HD-recorder cable transmitted the cable signal.

In the meantime 3 weeks are past and National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is in Dutch cinema’s since a week.
Now usually I don’t bother to see films in cinema other then Disney animated films or other animation that might be intresting. Exceptions are the Pirate’s films and the two Spider-Man sequels all which I enjoyed very much. That said I went to NT: Book of Secrets hoping to see How to Hook up Your Home Theater. Just my luck it was the usual stupid commercials and boring trailers but no short. The film it self was expected nothing special I’ve seen better films from Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio like last years Pirates 3 or The Legend of Zorro.
Since local cinema’s do show Pixar shorts before feature films I assumed it would be no different then this time. Now I hope it’s on the Enchanted dvd when it comes out in the spring.

Chances are you’ve seen this drawing before as it is from 2005 and its been seen 677 times. I came across recent Disney Princess art from this artist. The royal girls and guys as modern high school kids in a sort Anime-style. Personally I like her Ariel and Jasmine work the best.

Merry Christmas from Jasmine by *Jupta on deviantART

A Disney Princess version of the classic 12 Days of Christmas from a DP CD. The song isn’t bad I’ve got the mp3 but look at the Jasmine sections of the music video. It doesn’t fit in with the rest and the ring looks awful.

My dad and I put up the tree and decorated the living room Friday morning I am very proud of the result. Now that we just ‘throw’ in everything like we feel and not spread out the decorations the tree looks packed and festive as opposite like nice but dull in the past.

To finish the tree I put in the Aladdin ornaments I mentioned in November’s 15th Anniversary Article: Aladdin Christmas Tree Decorations and Gifts idea list and Disney-ish Christmas Traditions In the meantime I bought a few more ornaments and like I wrote want much to have more each year. I’m thinking buying more ball ornaments and fill a small personal tree with it for next year’s Christmas.

Look at the big red ball behind Aladdin. We wouldn’t have done that 10 years ago.

I love the way the branches surround her. Like a wreath.

It appears like Iago is flying.

Michele was kind of enough to point me to ioffer.com where a number of people are selling the complete Aladdin TV series on DVD. Prices vary between $ 16,98 and $27.

From the information I was able to gather the episodes are recorded from Toon Disney with a harddisk or personal video recorder and then transferred to DVD. Some sellers have enchanted the video and audio while others simply sell the DVD’s as 9/10 quality without proof to back it up.

After careful consideration I believe at least one seller to be genuine. It is always wise to carefully consider buying online from a unknown website.

shaunkarr offers all 86 episodes with enchanted video and audio quality spread out on 12 discs for $25 + $9 for US or $15 international shipping. But most important it’s the only seller that has screenshots to give a good indication of the video quality which looks good.

I’m tied on budget but in January I might buy from him. The quality can basically only be better than the torrents I currently use as source for screenshots and video clips. And taking the fact that there’s no word from Disney about an official release of the series to DVD or indication the company will do in 2008 the sets are good alternatives.

While a HD release of Aladdin is still years away despite being announced as coming soon in a Blue-Ray promo last year. Allemaaldigitaal.be reports that the current subscription channel Disney Cinemagic is broadcasting in High-Definition since November 30. The site mentions films like The Wild and Cars being aired in full-HD format.
The schedule on DisneyCineMagic France lists series like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin and generally has the same series the United Kingdom DisneyCineMagic broadcasts in standard format.
The television series is currently being broadcast digital HD in France. A different site states that Disney has no plans to extend HD channel in other European countries including Netherlands and Belgium the market share is too small to run a profitable channel.

kangofu at the LiveJournal community Agrabah posted an Aladdin/Jasmine Holiday coloring page . It’s from a recent Princess Magazine that came out in her country. I’ve nothing to offer her in return, but maybe you have! If you have any Aladdin holiday-ish artwork, photos, scans or anything else to offer go over to >Agrabah and let her know.

Youtube’r 07ibarto upload the best Aladdin Music Video I’ve seen in a while. Set on the classic song Respect by the legendary R&B singer Aretha Franklin. The song orgins go back to 1965, 40 years before it would be tied with the classic Disney movie and the only time it is set on footage from a Disney film.

07ibarto library includes “I Will Survive” set on Pocahontas others like “Eye Of the Tiger”. a Wicket redition of “Popular” Mermaid style. “Sandra Dee” from Grease on Hercules. And Roy Orbison’s Pretty Woman with Disney women. Which I a good oppertunity to plug my music video starring Jasmine as pretty woman.

I was a Nintendo boy, still am, in the early 1990′s. Sega’s ad campaign for their Genesis console was known as SEGA TV. Until today the whole SEGA TV ads where strange to me. You imagine I less I cared for the Sega then.

Upon watching the commerical on YouTube, found looking for the latest Aladdin videos on the site, my first thoughts when seeing the video where.

  • Did SEGA had their own TV channel?
  • man this is awful, corny, psycho garbage
  • Next I wondered

  • how could any normal kid fall for such stupidity?

I mean ok so the SEGA brand is mentioned but that fat guy with the annoying voice eats up all the attention. I counted just 3 seconds game footage. That’s only 6% of the whole commercial.

Disney Men: Just how manly?

December 8th, 2007

Kenobi_Kid at RetroJunk wrote the facinating and humoristic piece Disney Men: Just how manly?. Rating the Disney leading men, both human and animal, between A and F. F being the lowest and A the highest rank.

Having the leave Robin Hood, Tarzan, Basil of Baker Street, Prince Phillip and Hercules above him our favorite Disney male ranks high with A minus. Funny remark

Disney Princess merchandise is so wide spread i’ll find it in the oddest places. I was shopping for PJ’s and as I walked in the store my eye caught a Disney Princess Sticker & Color book with Jasmine on the cover. Me checking of course and besides two fine looking coloring pages of Aladdin and Jasmine. Of course I had to buy it.

Plain coloring pages are a bit dull so I added a nice border and some text and tada two brand new high quality coloring pages.
