Deviant Art is filled with Aladdin fan art but little is from a series character. There’s Mozenrath of course but little else that is reason enough to enjoy finding a drawing of Sadira in a Disney Princess-like outfit.

I dug up the real English version of A Whole New World on the 1993 released VHS “Friend Like Me” from the Disney Sing A Long Song series. This is the version I own(ed) and I have the the Dutch edition on my YouTube channel.
The clip is from forourhappiness and was added on my birthday, January 11th, but for some reason I just found it. The quality is not DVD or even VHS but considering it’s capped from a 15 year old VHS the quality is acceptable. Fast forward to 2.38 for “It’s a magic carpet”. Click on the “Sing a long songs” tag at the end of the post for a list or related posts.

mich311 shared her Disney Princess Magazine cover collection she gathered over the years. All the girls are covered but Aurora, Cinderella, Belle and Ariel got most exposure. Their dresses range from amazing to mehw. I’m in love with this picture of Aurora holding a bouquet but I hate it when they dress mermaid Ariel, it looks so odd
From the few Jasmine covers in that list I found most to come from me. But in the ones that don’t I did see gems.
Jasmine with unicorn from Sep-Oct 2004 English and Jasmine in purple from Aug- Sept 2004 issue

kangofu, posted cute scans of the princesses at the LiveJournal community d_princess I lurk. The magazine in Japan is quite different from the European version much more busy and present. I don’t think I would buy it. Jasmine got a little presesnence by appearing in a standard pose but with a fancy dress on a calender titled “Pretty as a Flower” which suits her being named after a flower and all and she and Rajah are decorating a drawing activity. Rajah is standard clipart I’ve seen as a sticker before but Jasmine’s pose I question if it’s new-ish. It might be a different pose that’s simalair it’s not in my stickers books that I am sure. Jassy’s got two standard coloring pages one you’ll find in the Coloring Page Gallery
She promises to do her best to scan an issue that has Jasmine on the cover, I’ll keep an eye out.

Over at Ultimate Disney flourishes a thread discussing recent news, artwork and character design concepts, of Glen Keane’s Rapunzel set for a 2010 release.
Rapunzel was written by the Brothers Grimm and published in 1812 meaning that almost 200 years later the story gets the Disney treatment. The story goes more or less like the Wikipedia summary

Prince climbs Rapunzel’s tower
A childless couple who wanted a child lived next to a walled garden which belonged to an enchantress. The wife, at long last pregnant, noticed some rapunzel (or, in some versions [1] of the story, radishes or lamb’s lettuce), planted in the garden and longed for it to the point of death. For two nights, the husband went out and broke into the witch’s garden to gather some for her, but on the third night, as he was scaling the wall to return home, the enchantress (Dame Gothel) appeared and accused him of thievery. He begged for mercy, and the old woman agreed to give him some, on condition that the child his wife was pregnant with be surrendered to her at birth. Desperate, the man agreed; a girl was born; the enchantress appeared, and the child was taken away. She named her Rapunzel. When Rapunzel reached her twelfth year, the enchantress shut her away into a tower in the middle of the woods, with neither stairs nor door, and only one room and one window. When the witch went to visit Rapunzel, she stood beneath the tower and called out:
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair, so that I may climb the golden stair
On board are a mix of Disney vetran’s and fresh production crew for example co-writer Mark Kennedy goes back to Beauty and the Beast but Josann McGibbon never worked at Disney before. From Aladdin’s crew remains Tina Price doing the visuals for Rapunzel but was a computer artist working on Carpet back in the early 1990′s. Kiran Bhakta Joshi now overseeing visual development on Rapunzel then engineering supporter.

Our feisty bud kicking Arabian princess has four new wedding dresses in the Disney Bridal collection for this year 2008. An elegant white or ivory dress this spring and 2 more later this fall.
The maids of honor aren’t forgotten they get 6 different designs to choose from with a wide color palette. Even little girls have their own Princess Jasmine dress to wear at a wedding. Kirstie Kelly designed the Princess Blossoms collection for Fall 2008.

Interesting how sad news, the passing of Ollie Johnston, leads to a fascinating blog post from the one and only Will Finn himself about working with John Musker animating Iago’s introduction scene where we see him and Jafar from behind watching Gazeem as the thief nears the Cave of Wonders.

On the BCC telecast I’d do Anything England votes for the actress who’ll portay Nancy in the revival of Cameron Mackintosh’s Oliver! Also during each show the audience can vote for their favorite child in the rance to play the title character Oliver.
As you might know the show is the follow up to How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? And Any Dream Will Do, which found a new Maria and Joseph for London’s West End. The format was sold so other countries produce a local version. For example we Dutchies voted for Evita last year and will decide who will play Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dreamcoat later this year.
The clip below shows the 3 Semi-finalists, Arthur, Chester, and Gwion try and fail horribly their hand at Alan Menken and Tim Rice’s A Whole New World. I know they’re kids but the blonde (Gwion?) just sang plain false.

The Dutch April issue of Princess features Aurora, Ariel, Snow White, a tibt Pocahontas and 2 Jasmine activities. The 2 player game I WIsh, I Wish and a connect the dots annex coloring pages showing Jasmine and Alladin (with two l’s, shame on you Disney!) strolling around the garden watching a giant butterfly fly by. No stories, no comics just this. In the magazine the colorable part are just Al/Jas and the butterfly the rest was already colored in.
Click the thumbnail for the full version then click right and choose Print Picture. You might want to blow up the picture by selecting stretch to page or center on page.

hanna commented today:
I like princess jasmine because she wears sparkling things and she puts spray on her hair and she makes braids. Princess jasmine is in love with aladdin
My poor stomach, way to much cuteness here. Blame Disney with their Princess all that hair and make-up stuff, to much is to much.
Hanna sounds like a child who only knows Jasmine from the Disney Princess line and doesn’t understand (yet) that she also is a good hearted, responsible, caring, feisty and head strong young woman. She’s also the kind of person who doesn’t sit and wait for rescue if she can help it. She takes on evil head to head varying from common thieves to powerful gods themselves all to protect her people and loved ones. If she disagrees with some one she expresses it, like the whole idea for marrying before her sixteenth birthday without much say in to who she’ll wed.
That is who Princess Jasmine is and I probably forgot a bunch of other good reasons why she rocks more then all her fellow princesses (with all respect to them love them too) born on the drawing desks of Burbank, California.

Two days of Deviant love, never did that before execpt in a fan art week but I just had to point to you to psychoe’s Deviant gallery. Being an adult modern Disney princess fanatic with soft spots for Jas, Ariel, Belle and the talent to draw them she made a short comic where the girls have a fun adventure together.

Heather useually spots remarkble stories in the general press involving Aladdin & co. She found a colomn at The Colombian how Griffin Bacon, an 8 year old cystic fibrosis patient learned crime never pays.
His record is clean
Vancouver’s Griffin Bacon discovered crime doesn’t pay while he was visiting Disneyland earlier this month.
Especially when the characters Aladdin and Genie are involved.
Griffin, 8, was at Disneyland with his mother and father, Michael and Sharon Bacon, as well as his 14-year-old sister, Tessa, on a trip arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Griffin has cystic fibrosis and had requested the trip.
Griffin’s run-in with the law happened one morning at breakfast. Aladdin talked Griffin into stealing a slice of peanut butter-and-jelly pizza and bringing it to him outside.
The manager got involved, as did Genie, and suddenly security was ready to arrest Griffin.
In the end, the Disney characters Aladdin and Jasmine came to Griffin’s rescue and Griffin escaped without ending up with a rap sheet.
“The whole thing wasn’t planned either,” Michael Bacon said. “They did a great job of ad-libbing.”
