The first of two coloring pages showcasing the always lovely princess of Agrabah.

As with all coloring pages at Streetrat these are high quality pictures.
To print them click the thumbnail then use the brower’s printer function to print it. Normally that means clicking right and selecting “print picture”. You see, the bigger the picture is the better quality you get when fit to page is selected. That’s why old coloring pages from the Aladdin Activity Center look so bad blown up. They’re too small.

Like what you see? More coloring pages of Princess Jasmine are just one mouse click away.

Disney Princess Jasmine holding the magic lamp coloring page

I picked up a nice Princess coloring book today. It’s a small book but still has 2 Jasmine and Ariel coloring pages against 1 for the other princesses. It’s got a lovely cover made up from 4 of the six girls. The artwork is reused from other merchandise, a series of litho’s of each individual princess where made with this artwork. I believe that’s the original source of the pictures.

Some coloring pages aren’t new either and where in other coloring books before or I’ve seen them on the Web. Happy for us both Jasmine’s coloring pages are new. That is, the artwork is reused but never in the form of a coloring page to my knowledge. Scans will be published later this week.

Disney.com revamped their Disney On Ice section. New are photos and a video of Princess Wishes, the second Disney Princess ice show following after the spectacular Disney Classics.
The download section houses a cute Aladdin coloring page.

Princess Stories volume 3 Aladdin ep eye of the beholder
I saw Princess Stories volume 3 at the store the other day while checking out the Disney DVD section for something new knowing that I wouldn’t find anything. The cover drew my attention because I wasn’t sure I owned it already. So once home I double checked by collection where I only found volume 1 and 2 plus Princess Party volume 2 and Jasmine’s Enchanted Tales. I bought it today and just finished watching it. For review purpose I’ll be focusing on the Jasmine parts of the DVD.

A small image gallery is included at the bottom.

Jasmine first animated song in her own universe “I’m More then a peacock princess’ (from Enchanted Tales vol. 1) since Aladdin and King of Thieves is now available as a sneak peak at Disneyprincessenchantedtales.com. Thanks to the heads up by Spike.

Besides Jasmine Iago gets a few lines to sing, we see Abu, Carpet, Sultan and Rajah appearing plus some new characters, a painter, some kids and a white horse Jasmine seems to be taming. Everyone except Aladdin and Genie.

You will notice Jasmine looks of model and sometimes acts out of character. He out of character acting is mostly noticeable when she says ´peacock´ in that ridicules dress. And I always believed she looks in good in anything, I was wrong. Further along she acts strange in the wink moment and when she does that silly dance. Besides those quirks the animation look pretty well, backgrounds and color scheme closely resembles the original movie.

I´m as super excited as I was when it was announced that Jasmine would feature her own cartoon still I´m mildly excited. Disney could’ve waited with Jasmine until the end of the Enchanted Tales line as they usually do with Jasmine in the Disney Princess line.
But if I had to choose between a Aladdin series season 1 set or Disney Princess Enchanted Tales volume 1 you bet your thingy that I will go for the series.

Today and yesterday I cleaned up all coloring pages posts and moved them to the new category, ‘Downloads’. All 6 coloring page posts are linked together in It’s Coloring time, Aladdin style
Also, I’ve collected all posts about LiveJournal icons, Avatars and Coloring pages in Downloads. All the wallpaper posts can now easily be found in the Downloads sub-category ‘wallpapers’.

During the cleanup I discovered 4 unpublished coloring pages of Jasmine and Rajah. I assume they’re scans from an older Disney Princess Magazine issue. I’ll have to dig them up to add the issue numbers sometime. Anyway they’re cute, Rajah should’ve gotten more screen time in the series. The only episode he plays a significant role is “Sand Switch”

Disney released the third Enchanted Tales trailer since the title was announced last year. It’s mostly the same as the second trailer that was spotted in February. There some new footage included most of which feature Aurora but during a few frames a good close up of Jasmine is seen.

Jasmine from Disney Princess Enchanted Tales site

Through UD I was directed to the official Disney Princess Enchanted Tales DVD website at Disney.com. It seems they woke up from their wintersleep and swaped Belle for Jasmine. She has a nice looking variation of one of her movie outfits complte with taira. But Jasmine looks good in anything so that’s no surprise.

Disney girls give up pink

February 18th, 2007

According Variety the Disney Princess is getting a makeover. Disney took the girls out shopping for a new wardrobe. Andy Mooney, head of Disney Consumer Products and creator of the line, want the girls to ditch their classic wardrobe in favor of golden versions of their old junk. In addition Gisele from the upcoming 2d/live action movie Enchanted gets her own doll line. It is to be expected that the princesses from Rapunzel and Frog Princess are added as well once their movies are out in a few years.

Artwork of the redone Princesses and Giselle at the Toy Fair 2007 section of azmine.com. It’s still the same poses and smiles but the outfits are nice

I hope that Mooney and his Consumer Products take the opportunity to reach out to adult male fans of the Princesses by giving us more Varity in poses and on model artwork, useful merchandise instead of the useless rubbish there’s so much of already. Examples rollerskates, toilet trainer potty and books aimed at 2 year olds.

What brings me to the Princess Magazine, that I it buy for the Jasmine front/back cover artwork and center poster plus the occasional coloring page, is the most original DP merchandise in years. Not that there’s nothing to improve, the stories are to simple although drawn nicely it always show the nice, compassable side of the girls. Never the adventures, in depended, kick ass one giving the world a one dimensional view. Sadly it seems that view will be carried on in the Enchanted Tales series. Better rotation of the princesses, not 2 months Belle, 3 months Cinderella, 3 months Aurora, 1 Snow White, 1 Ariel and 0 months Jasmine in a year. More coloring pages and less crafting would be nice too.
The good thing is the updated line is named Enchanted Tales kicking off with volume 1, now called Follow Your Dreams DVD means DCP will make the update global. Giving fans outside the US hope the DVD will be released in their country as well.

Here’s hoping.

Disney released a trailer for the first volume of Disney Princess Enchanted Tales starring Aurora and Jasmine.

Good news:

  • Animation looks very good, colors almost match the feature film.
  • Abu is on model
  • Carpet shines as his CG self again.
  • Iago is back also.
  • Linda Larkin.
  • It sounds like Lea got to do Jasmine’s singing again.
  • There are at least two new characters that play a part in the storytelling.
A child with an artistic gift.
And a woman who looks an awful lot like Aladdin’s mom who was cut from the feature film.

Bad News:

  • Story is not very strong and likely does not approach the adventure, humor and character development of the series.
  • Jasmine is off model looking and behaving strange. That dance reminds me of Snow White, not good for Jasmine’s sake.
  • That song is not Alan Menken quality.

There is still nothing said about when it’s going to be released exactly.
I’m again excited to see Jasmine and the gangs return in animated form other then CG theme park attractions or video games. Enchanted Tales marks the first time Agrabah is animated in a decade. Let us hope this release does well enough for a reprise, after knowing Disney, the other Disney Princesses had their turn.

A princess life for me

January 11th, 2007

Van Der Meulen recently introduced Disney Princess Toast. According to their site it’s a playful and healthy way to introduce children to healthy food. Toast packages feature all the six princesses, inside is a sticker children can collect. More information including sticker examples at http://www.prinsessenbeschuit.nl/
I saw a roll with Jasmine on it at the supermarket today, I wondered if the biscuits where pink with Jasmine printed on. The difference between DP biscuit and regular biscuits lais completely in the packaging and sticker.

Van Der Meulan also carries a Disney Pirate line including a couple of pirates, Smee and the notorious Captain Hook.
For more info and included stickers set sail to http://www.piratenbeschuit.nl

Agrabah Returns!

January 4th, 2007

Disney Princess Enchanted Tales is a continuation of Disney Princess Stories, while Stories contained old episodes from the Aladdin Series, Enchanted Tales has all new direct-to-DVD quality animation of Princess Jasmine and her friends. Previously the first volume was announced to star Belle and Aurora in new stories and was set for a fall 2006 release. For reasons unknown this release was delayed a year. Now in the January issue of the U.S. Princess Magazine an advertisement for a September release of ET with Aurora and instead of Belle, Jasmine!

Aladdin from Agrabah: “Yay! Jasmine! I always liked her better than Belle. That means…oh my God…new ALADDIN animation……… Agrabah returns! I think I’m gonna faint…”

Not counting Jasmine’s appearance in Kingdom Hearts 2 because it’s a video game Enchanted Tales will be the first time we’ll see Jasmine in an animated form since the House of Mouse TV series ended in 2002.

Like every Disney on Ice show, Princess Classics opens with Minnie and Mickey. They welcome the audience and introduce the show’s theme. Then Mickey leaves and Minnie skate around 7 male skaters each holding a princess symbol. Genie’s Lamp for Jasmine, Apple for Snow White, Glass Slipper for Cinderella, Sea Shell for Ariel, a sword for Mulan, the enchanted rose for Belle and a spinning wheel for Aurora. Then the skaters and Minnie leave to ice to make room for the first princess.

Jasmine

To my excitement Jasmine is the first princess. After Jasmine expressed her wish to be free the princess of Agrabah left the ice and Aladdin with Abu enters . For the first time in 10.000 giving him a crick in the neck Genie is quickly set free from the lamp. Carpet makes a brief appearance. Apparently the Aladdin and Jasmine meeting had already taken place before the show. Because Aladdin wishes to be a prince. Genie does he thing leaving into the first showstopper of the evening. A superb and catchy Prince Ali showstopper complete with elephant Abu gets the audience in the mood specially the little ones.
When Jasmine is not amused Aladdin turns to Genie from help who tells his young master it’s best to be himself. Naturally Aladdin doesn’t listen and steps on Carpet, a plate connected to the ceiling by wires, lifting him up to Jasmine standing on top of the palace. The palace would transform with each movie passing into that princess castle, when it isn’t needed the castle is hidden behind a round screen. Jasmine is impressed, as she should be, and they go on a carpet ride high above the ice via a rail system. Carpet lands and the couple skate on a slightly altered A Whole New World before boarding Carpet again and disappearing into the castle to make room for Sleeping Beauty.

Aurora

Opening with the three fairies fighting over the color of Aurora’s dress the audience is introduced to this classic movie where Aurora meets Prince Phillip and skate a beautiful cur before she’s put to sleep by the evil Maleficent’s curse.

Ariel

With Aurora sound asleep the show goes under the sea for another showstopper song. Under The Sea with an acrobatic Sebastian next Ariel skates on Part of Your World before seeing Eric. Then Ursula comes on gives Ariel legs and takes her voice. The show skips half the movie and goes right to the point where Eric is about to kiss the mermaid when the sea witch spoils all the fun. Somehow Ariel is cursed a sleeping making room for the next movie.

Mulan and Belle

Mulan who does some fancy skating as Ping and a beautiful cur as herself. The Mulan segment is one of the shortest of the show but not as short as Belle’s. The French girl enters in the dark from behind the tribune close to where I was sitting. Despite the dark I recognized her. She steps onto the ice and performs her cur with Beast. Gaston enters and stabs the poor Beast he escapes up the castle before falling to his death. Beast dies near the central entrance surrounded by smoke to hide the switch effect. The Beast actor leaves to make room for another actor portraying the Prince who hides under a dummy Beast costume. It’s the same technique used in The Beauty and the Beast on Ice show a few years ago.
As usual everyone on the show are solid performers doing all kinds of tricks with ease and grace I don’t see any celebrity do. Great admiration for these people but also the costume department, each princess outfit looks like it comes straight from the movie. All six princesses return at the end of the show as honored guests for Cinderella’s wedding each dressed in gorgeous wedding dresses. The dresses are white versions of their usual outfit except for Belle who wears her yellow dress.

Snow White

The last show sequence before the break is from Snow White. The seven dwarfs do their thing before Snow White performs. Next the prince is introduced, then the queen comes on and asks the famous question to her mirror before leaving. When the Old Hag later offers Snow the apple she asks the audience if she should bite. All the kids yell no but of course the princess doesn’t listen and ends up in a deep sleep. This is almost the end or part 1 but not before all the girls and their partners come together for the final. Starting with Belle and Beast they go to a sleeping Aurora who is awaked by her prince in the right corner close to my seat. Then it’s Ariel’s turn in the left corner and finally Snow White wakes up by the prince at the castle. Joined by Jasmine and Aladdin plus Mulan and Shang the break is announced by Mickey and Minnie.
Cinderella

The whole second half retells Cinderella’s story complete with Evil stepsisters, step-mom, a funny Grand Duke, the mice including Gus and Jaq, the prince, a beautiful performing Cinderella and of course the fairy godmother. As they had more time than the other story’s Cinderella was an extensive re-telling of the classic film including all the songs.

Conclusion

Princess Classics is the best Disney on Ice show I’ve seen in years since I started going to Beauty and the Beast on Ice about 5 years ago. The original Dutch voices where used when possible, the skaters where excellent. I appreciate the skaters even more after watching celebrities struggling on TV for months. In the past the pro’s on Disney On Ice make it all seem to easy even got a bit boring doing the same elements every show. In Princess Classics they kept the spins to a minimum though a few reprises of the layback spin where done by most princesses. I have no idea what all the elements are called and have to look them up. I guess allot are made up for the show but a few I recognized . For example Aladdin and Jasmine did a very low and fast Death Spiral and she was lifted high a few times. The other girls did similar elements each princess having her own unique element with her prince. In conclusion I regret Disney On Ice is only once a year. I love to go two or three times throughout the year. On the other hand I’ve something to look forward to and be excited about for next year. Truly magical I’m going to watch the big six princess movies this Christmas. I already saw Snow White and Cinderella today. Tomorrow Sleeping Beauty and The Little Mermaid ending the 26th with Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

I’m going Saturday! I’ve been looking forward to this years Disney on Ice for a whole year! Spits! makes a small notice today.

Princess December 2006 issue

December 18th, 2006

This holiday edition of Disney Princess magazine finally has a tidbit Jasmine. I didn’t buy it because there isn’t anything worth scanning. It’s the first Jasmine thing in at least 6 months and it’s only a story and a board game. Snow is on the front cover and Belle dressed in a wonderful white dress announces the publish date for next month’s issue.

I did learn that Jasmine is on the Disney Princess advent calendar 2006 wearing a new outfit. I found a picture of the back cover with her on it I think it was at calenders.com.
Last but not least Jasmine is also on a new Disney Princess game. Something with a party I think. Ultimate Disney reviewed this mediocre game.
