A year of 5 ago I frequently bought Disney Princess Magazines for their cute covers, posters and backs that at least once a year featured the Arabian desert rose. At some point the magazines focused more on the big 4, Aurora, Cinderella, Ariel and Belle ignoring Jasmine altogether. The magazines have been a great source for me to create some beautiful wallpapers, see for yourself the Wallpaper Gallery page.
But I was never able to use my favorite picture the scan has been sitting on my computer for years and I’ve looked at it hundreds of times thinking and honor the majesty of the artwork. Tonight I saw this really nice wallpaper using artwork from another issue inspiring me to take another shot at it.
Click on the thumbnail for full size then click right on the picture choose “set as background” or something similar.
I replaced my old 19″ computer monitor width a much bigger 22″ widescreen LCD screen capeble of very hight resolutions up to 1920 X 1080 pixels. That meant I needed a bigger wallpaper the ones I had are for 1024 x 768 or slightly bigger screens.
The wallpaper is from the scene where Aladdin is saying his goodbyes to Jasmine after his saved Agrabah. It’s one of the most touching and tearjerking moments in the film. I left some empty page at the bottom for icon storage. In 2007 I made a classic 1024 x 768 and and 1280 by 1024 pixel wallpapers from this same scene.
Click on the picture to load the full 1680 x 1050 wallpaper then click right on it and select set as background. The text might not be exact the same on your system.
I finally finished scanning The Art of Aladdin book, a Sotheby’s catalog listing orginal artwork used for the movie, that I bought a while ago. If you take a look at the two wallpapers I made below you probably will admire the talent of Disney’s background painters. The first wallpaper is the standard 1024 by 768 pixel format while the second one is slightly higher.
Here are 15 icons from the Art of Aladdin book I purchased recently. Check the background caricatures. I wonder if there are some caricatures of production members among the crowds.
the amazing expressions and the beautiful details in the backgrounds. The movie has been iconed to death, just like other 90’s films like BatB and TLM so I tried to come up some fresh points of view.
LJ’r Christina shared 50 Disney Princess bases for icons c.q avatars. The Jasmine ones are famliar to me. In 2007 I made a wallpaper from the center poster from the Disney Princess Magazine June issue.
Tiana and Giselle are in the batch.
For years I’ve tried to make a coloring page of this image. I first saw it in the return of jafar comic many years ago. Fast forward to today where I found the image as coloring page in a Disney Princess Activity block. Once at home I threw it under the scanner, cleaned it up and added a nice border around her.
To print them click the thumbnail then use the brower’s printer function to print it. Normally that means clicking right and selecting “print picture”. Like what you see? More coloring pages of Princess Jasmine are just one mouse click away.

Meesh wished Disney Records had put Princess Jasmine’s introduction scene on the soundtrack. This as response to a fandub by Fidget Goblinweb It reminded me that I had that piece of music as part of the near complete movie soundtrack I got from a blog last year. I mentioned it on here about six months ago. It seems the owner pulled the plug. Shame
The track has elements that was later used in the exclusive Aladdin Musical Spectacular song “To Be Free”
Using a Japanese Princess Magazine image scanned in by kangofu this wallpaper is the result of playing around in Paint Shop Pro. If you are on LiveJournal stop by Agrabah, Aladdin’s community on there and thank her for taking the time. Burried down in her blog is many more Princess Magazine artwork.
