Youtube’r, Sims fanatic and Disney fan sims2action retold a couple of Disney films in the Sims 2. The Aladdin clip set on the French Un nouveau monde includes the main characters, Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie, Jafar, Abu and Carpet though the latter is nothing more then an ugly rectacle with stripes. Also check out Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King retold with Sims.

Sims are talking about magic lamps since the Sims 2 came out three years ago and thanks to some creative fans Sims could dress up as genies, street urchin and Arabian princesses but their searches for the mythical Cave of Wonders always ended up at death ends. Sure some Sims made it their job to hunt for ancient relics in the Adventurer career that was added trough an expansion pack but the magic lamp seemed lost forever.

However from February 26, 2008 on genie’s lamp is within their reach. That’s when The Sims 2 FreeTime hits the streets it contains a magic lamp that summons a purple Genie Sims ready to grant wishes. The Genie can grant just one wish at the time it’s up to the Sim to choose.

Wealth, Beauty, Cheat Death, Longer Life and unlike Aladdin’s genie this being can bring people back from the death.

How to get a Magic Lamp with the genie?

Some sources say that the household needs a total 16 hobby points for the gypsy woman to drop you a lamp while others say there’s a 2% chance every day your household receives a lamp and that chance can be increased when Sims have many hobby points prefer a full hobby bar or 2.
My families in the Seasons neighborhood, descents of a pre-made household, are big Nature lovers with greenhouses and all… plus one teenage girl is in Platinum mood ever since she filled her music and arts hobby bar fully but still no gypsy with magic lamp.

Cheating seems the only other way to get the lamp, typ boolprop testingcheatsenabled true call the gypsy and spawn the lamp by shift+click and select spawn->genie lamp. If you thought that you can sell the lamp from the Aspir family in Desiderata Valley by opening a public store on a community lot, forget it! The lamp can’t be priced.

Youtube’r Chrissy4jc made a Sims 2 music video of Aladdin’s theme. She cleverly uses Sim actions to make it appear the characters are singing and expressing. Using Genie on the drums and playing guitar and camera
Angles kept the music video fresh prevented from becoming boring.

Her Part of That World video is worth a recommendation because Chrissy recreated a believable underwater world by using floor titles and wallpaper plus the standard Sims 2 furniture. Ariel gestures are distracting from the song. The unknown singer isn’t very good and brings the video down. More or less the same goes for her Pocahontas video, too much gesture, bad singer.

Her Beauty and the Beast video is so awesome I can’t begin to describe it you’ve to watch it yourself.

I paid a visited to mod the Sims 2 today, I might start playing again; I haven’t fired up The Sims 2 in a while. Last time I was playing a farmers family living on their own veggie and fish but it went to slow so I quit for a while.

A search for ‘Aladdin’ reviled a recolor of the Jasmine wardrobe mesh by Denise I mentioned here. The recolor is done by Nina Aksoy and inspired by the costume Jasmine wears at Disneyland.

bienchen83 at modthesims 2 uploaded a Disney Princess recolor of her “Far From Perfect” nursery/bedroom for your young sims. The set includes around 70 items! Varying from cribs & beds to many many ways to decorate the room including toys, lights, various shelf items all it’s to many to list. All objects are made by the forum member self. I believe she used scanned pictures from DP Hallmark cards and corporate it things like bedding, wallpapers and painting(s).

found some more Aladdin objects for The Sims 2. ead425 made a bath and bedroom set in 2005 and uploaded to The Sims Resource. (free registration required).

Disney fans with a Sims 2 addiction want to check out ead425 other Disney bath/bed room sets.
There’s a ton of other Disney room sets/paintings, murals & posters and clothing free for download at that site. Generally the Disney items can be divided between Disney Princess, Mickey and friends, Cars and Pooh. You might see Jasmine in the DP items now and then but creators used standard Disney Princess artwork that I didn’t find worth downloading.

To bad.

In my quest for more Aladdin stuff for The Sims 2 I crossed paths with BogSims Institute. A small well designed Sims 2 download site co-owned by Aladdin Central Message board member Syera.

Her Arabian Nights theme contains genetics of Aladdin, Jasmine, Mozenrath, Sadira and Eden. Outfits of our heroes and Eden plus wallpapers and floor titles to recreate Agrabah’s Palace complete with throne room and bed rooms.

By combining Syera’s Aladdin and Jasmine with Denise_316′s Aladdin and Jasmine set in a mix of Syera’s custom content and official Maxis objects I had fun making the image gallery below.

This object is from the base game and should work with all Expansion Packs. However it is possible that you need the Color Enable Package for the objects to show in your game. I think that covers it all. If you still have questions don’t hesitate to ask.

A couple of days I picked up The Sims 2 again. I got bored mid 2006 playing the same routine again and again. Start with a fresh just grown adult, move to his own lot, work his butt off for a decent home while looking for a love interest meanwhile keeping up with family and friends. Once love interest is found marry and get kids, raise them till adult hood, play a little more with Sim then load up the newly adult and start from the top.

Once I got Open for Business I expected the game to hold my intrest but it didn’t for more than a few shops. Each shop either quickly reached their peak or required so much effort to get going my Sim’s lifespan was half-over before it was running smoothly. As animal lover I was a bit excited about Pets until I learned it was basically dogs and cats and they didn’t really add to the game other then spreading a sim day even thinner between needs & wants, work and relationship building so I skipped that pack.

Now Seasons grabs my intrest enough to pick up the game from where a left off and try some other tactics. I made the oldest girl of 3 siblings who just reached adult hood an Artist. She turned her artistic gift into cash by selling her paintings to the neighborhood Sims. I think I’m giving the other 2 girls an Artistic career as well when they grow up. One might play piano for a living while the other can open up a flower shop.
All that time Modthesims2 hasn’t been updated with anything Aladdin other than a recolored dog that has to pass for Rajah.

I made 2 sets of wallpapers for personal use. The first set has a Jasmine picture, a screenshot of Aladdin and a plain wallpaper with border. The second set is made up of 2 wallpapers, one plain with border and one of Jasmine in her garden.

Waiting and looking forever and everywhere for simmed Aladdin characters I had my hopes that the people hanging at Mod The Sims would make them. The super talented denise_316 created Aurora and Phillip, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Snow White and Belle it was matter of time before she did Aladdin.

There are versions of Jasmine and Genie made before though they look like good sims neither was much like their cartoon versions.

Just a quick post at the start of the week. I haven’t posted anything, besides the screenshots The Citadel because I’ve been playing the new expansion pack for The Sims 2 Open For Business. So far I got a successful flowery shop, a toy store and electronics store losing money. It’s tricky to get a successful shop up and running. But there is potential for a Disney Store just like I wrote before. Once I get the hang of the game I give it a try. If successful I upload the lot.

The game was picked up after I came out of Bambi 2 in theater. The movie is quite good, for a sequel. Story wise isn’t that bad, characters stay true to their form and the animation is near traditional feature level. The only aspect of Bambi 2 that didn’t work where the songs. Despite Laura Vlasblom’s vocals the songs are in the range of previous sequels like Mermaid 2 and Lady 2. Bad!

The last Aladdin themed set for The Sims 2. Made for the baby girl in pink/purple colors I used scans from Disney Princess Magazine instead of the standard boring cliparts found on the Web. By request the set also included Jasmine bedding.
From now on I’ll only post paintings, rugs and clothing.
