All hail Sadira

Sadira/Aladdin pairing music videos aren’t common, people don’t always know she’s the teenage streetwise witch from the TV show who had the hots for Aladdin for a while to end up friends with the gang.

I caught That Stinking Feeling last weekend. It such a funny episode, Iago and Abu doing their usual get-rich-quick scheme, this time a huge golden ring protected by a dormant plant monster. Uncouthma at the palace dinner party juggling Jasmine and Sultan hilarious.
I love that big guy. So I looked around on Deviant. See he has fans with artistic skills too.

Here comes Uncouthma by =FluffyZeliboba on deviantART

YouTube’r RheaHiryuu is a real fan, 7 of his videos are tributes to Aladdin TV Series Characters. Being a fan of the bigger evil villians of the series she tributes Mirage, Chaliph Kapok and Mozenrath (3x). The music isn’t really my genre but I like the Mirage and Kapok tributes.

Aladdin on Russian ToonDisney

Youtube’r chanforcartoons is uploading the series in Russian. I just watched Bad Mood Rising it’s fun to watch it in a completly different langauge then English or Dutch. I laughed when Iago said “Now if that pumice-headed genie would just make an appearance…” I knew that a second later big blue would crash on him just like he did before and would many times over. Hilarious!

Aladdin and Company are looking puzzled after just loosing their shadows

Abu and Iago's shadows plotting to take Carpet's shadow and rule the world.

Iago just lost armwresteling with Aladdin in the icy north.

Aladdin auditions for Spock in the new Startrek film. Gregarious goes for R2D2 in Clonewars.

Sultan, Jasmine and Iago

The half naked Iago amuses Aladdin.

But the half naked parrot is not so amused, the golden feather covers his behind.

The damatic death of Jasmine marks the halfway point of The Ethereal.

Aladdin looks brave and determinted to save the city once again.

Girlpower

After watching Ariel’s Beginning Mermaid 1 back to back the rest of my evening was spend looking for and reading about Ariel. And so it happens I came across a post on LittleAriel Forum about the on and off model of The Little Mermaid characters in the television series.

A screenshot of a caricatured, off model Ariel looks familiar. I’m quite sure I’ve seen Jasmine with similar expression one episode in the Aladdin TV series. I checked ”Of Ice and Men”,  “Getting the Bugs Out” and ”I Never Mechanism I Didn’t Like” which where the best candidates I could think of. To blunt: I don’t know and need help identifying that stupid episode because I won’t rest until I know.

“Do The Rat Thing” Fanart

Trough Disney-Princess club I spotted fan art from the series episode “Do The Rat Thing” in where Jasmine and Iago are turned into animals and spend the day trying to get back to the palace for help. The princess learned to respect her poor citizens more getting a fresh perspective on her city at the time. The piece is made by purplegoldfish in 2006.

Heather uploaded the transcript of “Which Way Did She Go”. The last Sadira episode in where she meets her sandwich sisters and prevents them from taking over the city. With the other 3 transcripts 1/3 of the Aladdin TV series has got a transcript.

Worth mentioning is Unali’s Disney art gallery at Deviant Art. Her work varies between so-so to excellent there’s some Aladdin related art like Mirage in the episode “The Lost Ones” Wicked!! And a drawing of an Elkatib, childeren who years ago joined the sorceress. I think it was that they don’t have to grow up. Anyway the catch is that they can only walk the earth one night every seven years.
The episode is on YouTube though I can’t promise you it’s still there in a few months. If that’s the case surf to Aladdin Central’s image gallery for over 320 screenshots the transcript is there too.

Black Sand Review

Heather made lots of screens of the Mozenrath episode Black Sand, free for grabs but a back link to Aladdin Central’s Image Galllery is much appreciated. Anyway I thought it was a good time to discuss Black Sand.

Mozenrath uses the mysterious black sand the replace everyone with a disguised Mamluck. Rasoul and his guards are the first victims to the sand, next is Jasmine followed by Genie and the Sultan even Aladdin is sucked into the world of the black sand.
It’s my least favorite Mozenrath episode and an average series episode. The story is shaking; it takes a long time before the story takes off. Iago has a few funny lines and Genie he’s an idiot Like when’s succumbed to the sand, delivered in a wooden barrel he thinks it’s the barrel fairy giving him the container. Lucky his role is relative small. Iago is the one with the smart remarks like prying at the Jasmine mamluck, the parrot doesn’t know she’s a mamluck, if there’s a party at hand.
There’s a good piece of action halfway in a fight between Aladdin and the Jasmine clone. Because after Aladdin’s succumbed to the sand Carpet in essence saves the day by going in attached to a rope giving his friends an escape route while Iago and Abu distract Mozenrath and Xerxes.
The good guys return to Agrabah, they fight off the Mamlucks and Mozenrath is defeated by his own hand.

Until a couple of years ago Production Cell’s from the big studios like Disney and Warner where exclusively sold at animation galleries prices range from affordable to extreme expensive. With Internet and EBay/PayPal in particular prices went down somewhat but more importantly for Joe and Jane Average buying a cell from their favorite animated movie/series became much easier. A computer with Internet access and a credit card is enough.

Since last year I noticed the market for Aladdin TV Series production cells exploded, the amount of cells for sale seems to grow by the week. Episodes that I didn’t even know cells excited from appear on EBay for reasonable prices. Take the scene below, it’s from the ep Moonlight Madness, if you remember Aladdin takes Jasmine on a romantic outing to an island but a lost treasure is also located on that same island. Here we see Genie aiding Aladdin to distract his fiancée from figuring out Aladdin didn’t go to that island just for romance.

Genie as waitress. the pink Cadillac the bird and monkey prepping food it all gives me a American 60′s/70′s vibe as portrayed in the classic TV series Happy Days or Grease though the car reminds me more of Miss Saigon then any anything else. Taking about Grease; Saturday Night Fever: dress Aladdin and Jasmine 70′s fashion and they blend in fine. Wikipedia sources a 2005 BCC article on just what I wrote above:
“For me, the drive-in conjures up images like ones in Happy Days. As our world becomes more hectic and less safe, the more the drive-in becomes a wholesome retreat from it.”

Production cells from Beast or Faminet

Duck Amuck is a classic Daffy Duck 1953 cartoon in it Daffy is abused by it’s animator when his background are changing like every second, the colors are messed up even Daffy’s body is shape shifted to look like a walking flower with a flag on his tail. The form looks similar to the freaky form Jasmine gets in Do The Rat Thing, I wonder if the writers Jan Strnad & Douglas Langdale where aiming for a reference to that Daffy cartoon.

Italian Series Intro

Someone posted the Italian Series Intro on YouTube it reminded me of the mid 90′s, it was around ’95 I think when I saw some of my favorite Aladdin episodes like The Secret of Dagger Rock on the Italian channel RaiUno. My local TV provider had the channel behind a set-top box which I didn’t have still despite the bad static on regular cable I could watch and hear bits and pieces.

I love… Muktar

Muktar
Muktar

In the episode Genie Hunt Al Gebrac one of Genie’s former masters hires the Muktar to capture big blue so the old man can enslave our comic friend. You see when old Al was Genie’s master he wished for eternal life but he didn’t realize eternal is a very long and lonely time.
The Muktar is one of the last of his species he specializes in hunting genies because of their mutual hatred towards each other the muktars and genies have been enemies since thousands of years.

His mysterious lizard appearance, intelligence and low voice makes him one of Aladdin’s coolest and realistic enemies. Unlike Mozenrath or Abis Mal he does not want power or look for wealth nor he is a comic villain like Amin Damoola.

A search on Deviant shows that some Muktar fans have fine drawing skills. HackerCo version of the genie hunter looks allot like his cartoon version. From the same artists’ is this version.
Zimeta08 drew him with Mozenrath for mozenrath.deviantart.com. For the Disney Club Zimeta did a Muktar drawing with his ugly bird.
