Aladdin’s expression is cute as to say “So is it good?” refering to Belle’s book.

Michele pointed me to an auction of a very cute pin. Yes Disney didn’t forget, boys are fans too. From the same series come Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Dopey, Eric and Hercules plus Genie and Aladdin. It reminds of that boys oriantaed Disney Adventures line that wasn’t a success. The Disney Princess toddler pin collection for girls has Cinderella, Mulan, Snow White, Ariel, Belle and Aurora plus Jasmine.
I replaced my old 19″ computer monitor width a much bigger 22″ widescreen LCD screen capeble of very hight resolutions up to 1920 X 1080 pixels. That meant I needed a bigger wallpaper the ones I had are for 1024 x 768 or slightly bigger screens.
The wallpaper is from the scene where Aladdin is saying his goodbyes to Jasmine after his saved Agrabah. It’s one of the most touching and tearjerking moments in the film. I left some empty page at the bottom for icon storage. In 2007 I made a classic 1024 x 768 and and 1280 by 1024 pixel wallpapers from this same scene.
Click on the picture to load the full 1680 x 1050 wallpaper then click right on it and select set as background. The text might not be exact the same on your system.
This weeks issue of Donald Duck, nr 51 -2009, had a 4 page Aladdin comic where Genie’s being being hit by lighting splitting him into two. One of his halfs comes under the power of Jafar who, as usual, want to rule Agrabah. It’s up to Aladdin, Abu and Carpet and rejoin the two halfs.
The Princess and Frog Ross Blocher (Assistant Technical Director) and T. Daniel Hofstedt (character animator) did hilarious parody on Prince Naveen set on Alan Menken’s Prince Ali from the one and only Aladdin. Probably not mend for ears outside the production team though.
Fact is that T. Daniel Hofstedt worked on Aladdin as animator for Gazeem and Prince Achmed. He continued his Disney career by animating on most feature films up till Home on the Range.
Trident did a few tributes to the badguys and girls from the Aladdinverse.
Set under Billy Joel’s You May Be Right, great artist by the way, clips from Chaos from the tribute to this crazy all-power cat.
The hilarious Looney Tunes tribute Abis Mal, Aladdin most annoying and funny opponent with his turban obsession.
The to me unknown rockband Trooper hails most of Agrabah’s Enemies using screens capped by myself I have/had stored online somewhere for years.
I found a couple of photos from Disney on Ice Celebrations, the latest Disney On Ice show featuring the Princesses including Tiana. Lucky for us they kept a spot open for Jasmine, the last ‘real’ princess. I myself am planning to see Al and Jassy on ice in February 2010 when I see them in action in Princess Wishes.
My Aladdin themed room got allot more Aladdin-ish yesterday when I hung up two 160 cm high frames each containing 8 lithos/posters A4/letter size. They reprisent 15 random moments from the film and 1 poster. Like I wrote a few weeks go I want to make a couple of nice wallpapers to add to Streetrat’s wallpaper gallery

The Musical Sing A Long is the annual closing event of the Uitmarkt, many culture shows and stuff are previewed throughout Amsterdam in the last weekend of August. It marks the start of a cultural season that lasts until June the next year. On the Musical Sing A Long big and small musical productions are previewed that will open soon and often a sample of an running musical is also preformed.
In Disney Sing A Long 4 major Dutch musical artists from 3 generations will sing the hits from Disney musicals like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.
Last nights preview included a short sample of Stanley Burleson and Casey Francisco singing A Whole New World.
The young dutch musical production company FanWork had it’s fall 2009 production premiere. A cast of young students ages between 6 and 21 play a in-house adaption of Pocahontas. Last year FanWork did their own redition of Aladdin but borrowing elements from the famous Disney film. According to a Musicalworld.nl review the story of a boy dreaming of wealth, a trapped princess, a powerhungry vizir and a silly sultan are inspired by the Disney animated film. In this version Abu is replaced by a mute boy Sami and Jafar’s henceman is not a parrot by a female named Kadeem
Over at LiveJournal’s Aladdin community PrinceAli put together a list of all Aladdin’s outfits including the variations dune to animation errors. I counted 23 outfits variations not included. Plans are to add the stuff Genie puts him in the future.
As you might have heard the Broadway version of The Little Mermaid will close August 30, 2009 after only 685 performances and 50 previews. According to Disney Theatre Production head Thomas Schumacher he didn’t see a way to keep earning money from it. He also says his division is setting up a tour version to start somewhere around 2010. Also you’re sure recall that Disney shutdown the successful Beauty and the Beast that ran from 94 to 07. Since 1999 It’s home was the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
Rumors say that a musical adaption of The Adams Family might be next to setup shop at Lunt-Fontanne. Depending of it’s a success it could hold out there for a few years let’s say 3 before Disney has to develop another production. I’ve a feeling a serious attempt to sculpt Disney’s 31st animated feature into a Broadway worthy musical is coming within the next few years. I love if Aladdin gets the musical it deserves around it’s 20th anniversary in 2012.
Let’s cross fingers.
