A year of 5 ago I frequently bought Disney Princess Magazines for their cute covers, posters and backs that at least once a year featured the Arabian desert rose. At some point the magazines focused more on the big 4, Aurora, Cinderella, Ariel and Belle ignoring Jasmine altogether. The magazines have been a great source for me to create some beautiful wallpapers, see for yourself the Wallpaper Gallery page.
But I was never able to use my favorite picture the scan has been sitting on my computer for years and I’ve looked at it hundreds of times thinking and honor the majesty of the artwork. Tonight I saw this really nice wallpaper using artwork from another issue inspiring me to take another shot at it.

LJ’r Christina shared 50 Disney Princess bases for icons c.q avatars. The Jasmine ones are famliar to me. In 2007 I made a wallpaper from the center poster from the Disney Princess Magazine June issue.

Kangfo posted on her LiveJournal a bunch of new Japanese Disney Princess magazine scans.
The Japanese artists gave the girls new jeweled dresses though it seems they went wild with the design. Jasmine’s dress has more jewels then the sand shark she helped catch in the episode Raiders of the Lost Shark.

Two of the coloring pages scanned by kangofu are featuring Jasmine. Both seem to be an activty.

Using a Japanese Princess Magazine image scanned in by kangofu this wallpaper is the result of playing around in Paint Shop Pro. Michele, a loyal Streetrat vistor and fellow Jasmine fanatic, has put up 6 Disney Princess Magazine on sale on Ebay. Five of them are English and one hails from Japan.
Now that I think about it, I haven’t seen Jasmine on a Dutch DPM cover since a long time. Not since the March 2008 issue has Jasmine been decorating a cover while Cinderella, Ariel, Belle and Aurora are on it all the time.

Thanks to my friend Michele I could add six new dresses to Princess Jasmine’s dresses: The Ultimate List . They all come from Disney Princess Magazine and are either blue or purple. My personal favorite is the:

It’s a more modern design and for a change not a variation on Jasmine’s regular sea-green/blue outfit.

LJ user and grapic artist Aralana published a set of Jasmine icons using artwork from Japanese Disney Princess Magazines that where scanned by Kangofu recently.

Over at DA user stormyrogue shows a real pretty drawing of Jasmine based on a popular Princess wallpaper I scanned a while ago. Actually looking back, he might have even surpassed the original. I am glad that she gave me credit for putting the source file online. It is way too often I see art at DeviantArt based on coloring pages or wallpapers I put online. It’s not that I own the copyright but is it to much to ask to link to the source file? I think not.

mich311 shared her Disney Princess Magazine cover collection she gathered over the years. All the girls are covered but Aurora, Cinderella, Belle and Ariel got most exposure. Their dresses range from amazing to mehw. I’m in love with this picture of Aurora holding a bouquet but I hate it when they dress mermaid Ariel, it looks so odd

From the few Jasmine covers in that list I found most to come from me. But in the ones that don’t I did see gems.

kangofu, posted cute scans of the princesses at the LiveJournal community d_princess I lurk. The magazine in Japan is quite different from the European version much more busy and present. I don’t think I would buy it. Jasmine got a little presesnence by appearing in a standard pose but with a fancy dress on a calender titled “Pretty as a Flower” which suits her being named after a flower and all and she and Rajah are decorating a drawing activity. Rajah is standard clipart I’ve seen as a sticker before but Jasmine’s pose I question if it’s new-ish. It might be a different pose that’s simalair it’s not in my stickers books that I am sure. She promises to do her best to scan an issue that has Jasmine on the cover, I’ll keep an eye out.

The Dutch April issue of Princess features Aurora, Ariel, Snow White, a tibt Pocahontas and 2 Jasmine activities. The 2 player game I WIsh, I Wish and a connect the dots annex coloring pages showing Jasmine and Alladin (with two l’s, shame on you Disney!) strolling around the garden watching a giant butterfly fly by. No stories, no comics  just this. In the magazine the colorable part are just Al/Jas and the butterfly the rest was already colored in.

This year’s 12th Donald Duck has an advertisment for the March issue of Disney Princess Magazine with Jasmine on the cover.
It’s been a while since the last time Jas was featured on a Princess cover. The last time we saw the Arabian beauty was the December 2007 issue .

It seems Jasmine gets lesser coverage with each year passing since Princess was first published in Holland in 2004. An activity on how to make Jassy’s headband and a 4 page comic is all Jasmine gets this month. The cover image isn’t that great either it seems the artists cant get her face right that pink/purple looks very nice on her though but then again she always has purple outifts with pink accents in the DP line.
The leading lady is Belle with a comic, 2 games, 2 activities, poster and coloring pages. Mulan and Aurora get some exposure; Cindy has a comic and coloring page plus an activity or 2.

Jasmine’s comic takes place during preparations of the yearly royal parade held at the palace. Jasmine suggests holding it at the market this year, auditions are held and decorations are made. Finally parade day is here and all the rehearsing goes down the drain when the animal’s trip over each other and the artists have to run for their lives or being crushed beneath and elephant. As usual the princess saves the day and her father much embarrassment as she leads the parade dancing through Agrabah.

Since we’re lacking a coloring page in this issue I made one myself. It’s from the last frame of the comic. I’ll put it in its own post later this week.
