Disney Princess Jasmine Lego Set Review

The Lego Disney Princess Jasmine set is since yesterday part of my collection. It’s a cute little set full of small creations. Highlights are the magic lamp & magic carpet, the fountain is cute too and of course Rajah and Princess Jasmine.

The magic lamp existed already since the Lego genie figure, the carpet is a cute build with Lego DP Jasmine 41061 (4)2 printed parts with pattern. I would have used a single 1 x 1 plate with clip on the corners and 2 x 1 plate in the middle to represent the rugs tassels.  Little Rajah looks so cute, I see Lego even made a temple in honor of this feline. Princess Jasmine herself comes as a mini doll, a new minifigure model aimed at girls, and though I prefer a real minifigure this is the next best thing. The best part is her wig that has the iconic hairband and pony tail with bands.

But there are of course  things that I would change to make the set more accurate. Take the lamp standard, for example wich would work in a Cave of Wonders playset with Aladdin, Abu,and Genie but not here and include.2 more leaves to the make silly palm tree more real and perhaps make a little table for the meat. I would make the market stall stand out a stud by moving the slope pieces forward and put 1 x 1 bricks behind it. Or nix it and give the tower aka Jasmine’s bedroom a better look. For example I would add 2 more round walls and a round fence to make the balcony, yes that little gold fence is the famous balcony, And then move the tower tops together to from a complete roof.

At the end I’m happy to finally have an official Lego Aladdin set something I’ve been hoping for many years ever since Lego started producing sets based on Disney movies and characters back in the days of Mickey and friends. Putting up my Lego collector head I’ll put the Jasmine and Rajah & Carpet figures in my collection and take the set apart use the pieces elsewhere.

Selinmarou’s gorgeous Jasmine artwork

http://selinmarsou.deviantart.com/art/Jasmine-TV-series-outfit-338409721You have to check out Selinmarou’s Princess Jasmine fanart. She has the most beautiful drawing style I’ve seen. Original work too, yes it’s often based on existing official artwork but I personally think her version are ten times better. It’s obvious there’s allot of time and love poured into these pictures.

Gesture Concept Sketches

Gesture Concept Sketches by Aaron Blaise. I recognize the motion of Jasmine twirling in the scene when fatber visits her in the princess chambers about to announce he’d find her a suitor. The two Aladdin gesture pages don’t look familiar, I can’t place them. The last page is from when Jasmine confronts Aladdin about his true identity.

Once Upon A Time Aladdin hommage

I really like Once Upon A Time for its Disney animated feature homage’s. Lots of characters from their classic films are brought to life in one form or another. I’ve heard they casted Aladdin and Jasmine a while back I’m around Season 2 episode 13 and so far the only reference I’ve seen is the animated gif below I stumbled upon. Looks like the scene is from episode 20 so I’ve to wait a little longer

Jasmine: The Jewel Orchard

dailydawl posted scans of the newest Jasmine look has been given by the Disney Princesses designers. I’m glad they didn’t change Jasmine, and Aladdin too, not to much. Overall I like it but I have to get used to the loose hair strand, reminds me of Belle in the movie. I hate the glitters they even peek from under her brown robe. The story goes like this.

Description: One morning at the palace, Jasmine overhears a surprising conversation. A servant claims that there is no fruit to be found in all of Agrabah! Jasmine heads to the market to figure out what has happened. When a trail of beautiful amethysts leads her to the royal orchards, she discovers that all the fruit and water have been turned into sparkling, shimmering jewels! At first it seems a beautiful sight, but with no fruit to eat or water to drink, the people of Agrabah can’t survive. Jasmine and Aladdin must figure out how to reverse the spell that has been cast upon the orchards before it’s too late!
