Oh My Disney runs the story of the reunion of the Aladdin key crew. It wasn’t as big reunion as 11 years ago for the platinum DVD. Glenn Keane and Andreas Deja where among the few who didn’t attend the panel. But yeah they people who where there, directors Ron and John, animators Eric Goldberg and Mark Henn and voice actors Scott Weinger, Linda Larkin and Brad Kane had a good time seeing each other again. They mostly remercie the late Robin Williams and point out how much influence he had to the final film.
On Saturday August 15 at 6 pm D23, the annual Disney EXPO in the Anaheim Convention Center, Walt Disney World Aladdin’s directors John Musker and Ron Clements, Animators Eric Goldberg who supervised the genie and Mark Henn who was the man behind bringing Jasmine to life will discuss they’re experince working on Aladdin back in early nineties. They’re joined by voice actors Scott Weinger and Linda Larkin who did the speaking parts for Aladdin and Jasmine and Brad Kane who did the singing for our hero on One Jump Ahead and A Whole New World. This all for the release of Aladdin on Blu Ray as a Diamond edition set for an Oct 13, 2015 release
It’s not as big as the panel that was formed for the platinum edition in 2004. But I’m glad Disney is giving Aladdin at least some attention. Though I suspect this gathering will not end up on the disc itself I’m sure recording of the event will popup on Youtube quickly after.
Jas will make her royal appearance on June 14, 2013 in the Disney Princess TV series Sofia the First. Can’t say I’m excited about how her design is convered to CG. As someone from Ulimate Disney put it
“I think Jasmine looks a lot like her Kingdom Hearts counterpart here ?”
The problem is this isn’t a video game but a TV show where the character is supposed to move and act.
Jas is of course voiced by Linda Larkin with the singing parts done by Lea Salonga
The announcement made me try to remember the last time Jasmine appeared on a Disney TV show. To my surprise I came to the conclusion that it had to be on Disney’s House of Mouse. As you might remember the show stars Disney’s fab five & friends, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto etc. running a dinner theater where many Disney characters has cameos as guest stars. The last episode aired almost 10 years ago on October 24, 2003.
The guys behind the Tiara Talk Show talked with the lead voice actors of Aladdin, Scott Wienger, Linda Larkin and Jonathan Freeman about how they ended up being the voice of popular Disney characters for almost 2 decades, how they got the part, why they love their work and working for Disney in general. There’s some inside talk about things like the Music behind the Magic 4 CD box that contains demo recordings for songs that didn’t make into the final film, the inside joke of Scott Weinger dressing up as Aladdin in that Full House 2 part episode when the family went on holiday to Walt Disney World. And other stuff like the musical stage show in Disney California adventures.
Listen… just listen
