I made this wallpaper from the last page of the booklet My Best Friend is Jasmine (Jenna and her younger brother and sister are hungry and living on the streets in Agrabah—that is, until Jenna becomes best friends with Princess Jasmine! Find out how this streetwise little girl gets invited to live in a princess’s palace in this full-color padded and glittered hardcover storybook. ) Click on the thumbnail for the  full version of 1920 by 1080 pixels then right click on it and choose “Set as Background” This may variy from system to system.

A year of 5 ago I frequently bought Disney Princess Magazines for their cute covers, posters and backs that at least once a year featured the Arabian desert rose. At some point the magazines focused more on the big 4, Aurora, Cinderella, Ariel and Belle ignoring Jasmine altogether. The magazines have been a great source for me to create some beautiful wallpapers, see for yourself the Wallpaper Gallery page.
But I was never able to use my favorite picture the scan has been sitting on my computer for years and I’ve looked at it hundreds of times thinking and honor the majesty of the artwork. Tonight I saw this really nice wallpaper using artwork from another issue inspiring me to take another shot at it.
Click on the thumbnail for full size then click right on the picture choose “set as background” or something similar.

I replaced my old 19″ computer monitor width a much bigger 22″ widescreen LCD screen capeble of very hight resolutions up to 1920 X 1080 pixels. That meant I needed a bigger wallpaper the ones I had are for 1024 x 768 or slightly bigger screens.

The wallpaper is from the scene where Aladdin is saying his goodbyes to Jasmine after his saved Agrabah. It’s one of the most touching and tearjerking moments in the film. I left some empty page at the bottom for icon storage. In 2007 I made a classic 1024 x 768 and and 1280 by 1024 pixel wallpapers from this same scene.

Click on the picture to load the full 1680 x 1050 wallpaper then click right on it and select set as background. The text might not be exact the same on your system.

Art of Wallpaper

November 11th, 2009

I finally finished scanning The Art of Aladdin book, a Sotheby’s catalog listing orginal artwork used for the movie, that I bought a while ago. If you take a look at the two wallpapers I made below you probably will admire the talent of Disney’s background painters. The first wallpaper is the standard 1024 by 768 pixel format while the second one is slightly higher.

Unbreakable bond Wallpaper

January 8th, 2008

Regular readers of Streetrat probably learned by know that I have sweet spot for Jasmine and Rajah, both as little girl with cub and teenager with vicious tiger.
These two have a high cuteness level that Disney marketing found out long ago and often features Rajah along side his mistress on Disney Princess merchandise.

Often overlooked is one of Disney’s best human/animal sidekick duo. I’m, of course, talking about Aladdin and Abu. Years in poverty formed a unbreakable bond between the two. They simply had to team up to survive. Aladdins’ wits plus Abu mischief gave Rasoul and large number of merchants major headaches.

The image is from the book “Tales from Agrabah

The wallpaper is 1024 by 768 and a 1280 by 1024 is up for download here.

Anniversary Wallpaper

November 27th, 2007

A big anniversary like this week can’t go by without an appropriate wallpaper. Based on an image in the most recent Princess magazine comes A Whole Old World Anniversary Wallpaper.

Sorry just a 1024 by 768 pixel version. Set the wallpaper as your desktop by clicking on the thumbnail to load the full screen version then right click and choose Set as background .

A Whole Old World Anniversary Wallpaper

I was playing around in Paint Shop Pro with the wallpaper I made of the October ’07 issue of Princess Magazine. I recolored the background to green, hence the name Princess October ‘ 07 issue wallpaper green recolor. Jasmine’s dress on the main image went from a typical Disney Princess pink shade to a fresh water blue shade close to the color of her regular outfit.
The dress of side Jasmine went from blue to a light green shade falling in harmony with the background.

Hope you like!

The wallpaper is made for standard desktops with 1024 x 768 resolution. Click on the thumbnail for the large version then mouse click right on the image and choose “Set as Background”.

This moment at the end of “Aladdin” always gets to me. It’s the saddest scene in the film, Aladdin is torn between his love for Jasmine and his friendship with Genie. He wants to stay with her but he can’t because he promised to help his friend. He knows the right thing to do is set Genie free even if that means he can’t be with his true love.
Jasmine knows that too, you see it in her eyes. I think she was seriously considering living with Aladdin in poverty even if only for second. But she knew she had her duties as a princess and couldn’t leave her father alone. Perhaps she learned that from running away earlier in the film.

You can see the two saying their farewells in their thoughts…… and considering they are drawn you must respect the geniuses at Disney for triggering such emotion with only pen and paper.

The wallpaper is made for standard desktops with 1024 x 768 resolution. A 1280 by 1024 version for bigger screens is also available.
